Outline your morning ritual for us….

Each morning I’ll wake up around 7.30am as I try to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. I continue my technology ban from the evening – so no checking of social media, texts or emails – until after I’ve been awake for at least 30-40 minutes and practiced my wholesome morning routine.

I love to start my day with a 30 min workout from the JSHealth App, followed by a piccolo coffee, a 10 minute meditation/manifestation practice and then I get ready for work. I usually eat breakfast once I get to the office. At the moment I am loving a warming bowl of oats, such as the JSHealth Sticky Date Pudding Oatmeal.

Outline your night ritual for us…

My bedtime ritual is probably my most committed part of the day, which I call my ‘sleepy routine’. Anyone who knows me knows I am incredibly dedicated to my nighttime routine, because it has profoundly changed the way I sleep and how I feel when I wake up.

At around 8.30-9pm, I have a very strict boundary where I switch off from ALL social media and emails. I know that there are some busy mums/workers out there that need to work in the evening, so simply find a time that works for you and stick to it. The trick is – to then commit to it. I take it so seriously that I even delete the apps and redownload them in the morning – which completely removes the temptation to cheat and check anything.

At this time, I run an epsom salt and lavender oil bath, which I soak in while listening to a podcast or reading a book. Following this I make a chamomile apple tea with manuka honey. I then put my legs up against the wall for 10 minutes and take deep belly breaths. This practice is incredibly powerful for calming down the nervous system and it truly helps me to fall asleep faster. I then head to bed and watch Masterchef before switching off for sleep. I always pop 1-2 PM+ Sleep vitamins from our range about 30 minutes before bed, which contain my favourite herbs and nutrients for a deep sleep.

First thing you do when you wake up?

I say thanks. I know it sounds cliche, but after suffering from a mental health crisis for the last two years, I appreciate life more than ever. I say a short thanks for my health, husband and loved ones. For two years, I didn’t have any peace of mind and I will never take this for granted again, so gratitude is important.

Talk us through your supplement intake…

I keep it simple. I tune into my body and supplement based on my needs of that time. This is why I created our JSHealth Vitamins range – as a simplified vitamin approach to problem solve specific health needs.

Right now I am taking:

Morning: Detox Debloat, Iron+, Vitamin D+, Probiotic+ and Vitality X + Collagen.

Evening: PM+ Sleep and Calm Mind

What is your weeknight dinner philosophy – what’s a normal meal look like?

Usually a 10 minute one pan dinner with protein, a healthy starch and veggies.

What health/body treatment is a regular for you and why?

A massage with my husband. It is our weekly treat to relax before another crazy work week.

Do you practice mindfulness or meditation? How?

I do a 10 minute mindfulness meditation that is also a manifestation. I literally say thanks for all I have, visualise what I want, open myself up to good energy and ask for the universe to protect me from negative energy. Sounds woo – but creates magic for my day.

What’s your approach to more alternative forms of beauty and wellness practises?

I really try to keep it simple and avoid alternative practices that can make my routine more complicated. Yoga, meditation and time with loved ones is my form of a wholesome practice. This works the best for me.

What do you do to help your body recover after a workout/hectic week?

My husband Dean and I are very committed to resting on the weekends when we can. While building JSHealth, we worked weekends for many years. Now we enjoy “sloth Sundays”, where we simply don’t allow ourselves to make plans and just enjoy going with the flow, and being together. We usually walk for hours in nature, cook, sleep and spend time with family.

Talk us through your fitness approach…

Rigid exercising didn’t work for me. Now, I exercise to nourish my body, not to punish it. In fact, I exercise less these days because of my commitment to tune into my body and actually listen to its needs. This means some days I wake up a little tired, so I’ll rest and take it easy with zero guilt. Some days I wake up energised which means I’ll do one of my favourite workouts. That’s true body love in my opinion.

I used to feel so much pressure to do a hardcore workout everyday “to off burn calories” or a food binge. Exercise used to be about punishing off my “diets sins” – crazy but sadly so true. The moment I started exercising with kindness and balance, my relationship with my body changed. It was true love.

Do you regularly listen to any wellness podcasts?

How I Built This and Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday.

Do you use any wellness technology or Apps?

Just the JSHealth App! Genuinely!

What’s your trick to making it through the 3pm slump?

Wholesome balanced meals that contain all the right macronutrients for blood sugar support. I love to have Greek yoghurt with cinnamon and nuts for an afternoon pick-me-up.

An average Sunday night looks like…

One of my favourite parts of the week. Dean and I get into bed at 7-8pm with cheese on toast, our fave TV show and enjoy time together.

Who do you look up to in the wellness world and why?

To be honest, it truly isn’t anyone famous or “fancy”! It is 100% my mum who has always lived a healthy life in the most wholesome and balanced way.

What are the last three things you bought for your health routine?

  • A good blender (I love Vitamix)
  • Chamomile apple tea – my new go to!
  • Paddy the Baker’s healthy soda bread – the best!

What does ‘health’ mean to you?

Kindness. Balance. Nourishment. Peace.
