Could not be happier for Bennifer right now
One of the most iconic celebrity couples ever, the rumour mill is in overdrive over Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s apparent reunion.
Out of all the celebrity couples we love the most, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez hold a dear place in our hearts.
Meeting, courting and getting engaged at a time of super low-rise jeans, butterfly clips, and bellybutton piercings, the couple ended it in 2004 after two years of a very public relationship, not that they ever wanted it that way.
“We were on the cover of every magazine, every week, it was just a weird thing,” JLo told Graham Norton upon reflection in 2010.
“Our relationship, I think, did suffer because of that. That’s not the only reason … but I think it definitely played a part in the dynamic of our relationship.”

But after being spotted together in what has now been several instances, including a getaway to Montana (TMZ reported), it definitely looks like the Bennifer is back and honestly, we couldn’t be happier.
Round one of their relationship was heavily scrutinised in the press and indeed among our own personal gossip circles; coverage that was, upon retrospect, misogynistic and borderline bullying. Need I remind, you, we hated Bennifer the first time around?
JLo was a diva, while Affleck was the tall, slightly nerdy and sensitive drink-of-water that wrote and starred in an Oscar-winning script with his best mate Matt Damon.
But after the reckoning of #MeToo and Megxit–the very naming of which places sole blame on Meghan Markle for her and her husband Prince Harry’s mutually agreed departure as senior members of the royal family–things have changed a lot in 17 years.
We’ve become much more astute in the way certain tabloid outlets write about women, which is a good thing, and it certainly doesn’t feel like the world is so gripped by celebrity anymore, at least not in the traditional sense.
Fame can seemingly happen to anyone with a smartphone and the lines between a celebrity’s private and public lives is more blurred than ever as they invite us in with social media.
A new monster has also been created in the form of the influencer, and it begs the question: who carries more star power, the 17-year-old TikToker with 15 million followers or the Hollywood Walk of Famer with no social media presence? It feels that the sniper level of attention Affleck and JLo experienced in 2004 has weakened somewhat, which must be refreshing for both of them.
“[JLo] wants to spend as much time with Ben as possible to see where this could go,” a source in Montana told People. Godspeed, Bennifer.
