The eligible Aussie men we’d accept roses from as the 2021 Bachelor
With rumoured 2021 Bachelor, Ash Williams reportedly being dropped by Channel 10 in light of a non-consensual sexting allegation (good riddance), the show must find a replacement for the coveted Aussie reality-tv role.
The 2021 of The Bachelor Australia is due to commence filming in less than a month; although, according to reports from So Dramatic!podcast, the show might be scrambling to recast the bachelor himself.
In an episode released January 15th, host Megan Pustetto reports that comedian and 2021 contestant of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Ash Williams was set to be the 2021 bachelor. However, due to a recent and pretty horrendous sexting allegation, he had been dropped from Channel 10.
“As we know this week, it was revealed that Ash had been charged with intentionally recording an intimate image without consent during a sexting incident… following these charges, Channel 10 made the decision to dump him and cancel his Bachelor contract.”
Yuck. GOOD riddance.
A close source to Williams also told the podcast, “They thought he would be well-liked, however with these charges, their whole plan has backfired. Not only has Channel 10 dumped Ash as the bachelor, but they’ve also cut ties with him completely… they are even not including him in social media posts. He’s been completely banished.”
Another source told the podcast that the network is currently casting the female contestants for this year’s season; and now it seems they have the added task of recasting the rose-gifter, himself. So, we’re now waiting with bated breath to see who the new bachie could be.
Here are some of our picks of eligible Aussie men who might be able to fit the 2021 Bachelor bill.

Danny Clayton, TV/radio presenter
Self described as a “less talented Osher Günsberg” and BFF of feminist queen Abbie Chatfield, Danny, 35, has been gracing our screens and radios (first on Channel V) for close to two decades now. We reckon he’d be a laid-back and down-to-earth bachelor with an amazing gift of the gab for all things music and interesting.
Daniel Ricciardo, Formula 1 driver
We wouldn’t say no to a rose from this Italian-Australian stallion. Daniel, 31, lives life in the fast lane as a F1 driver for Australia (winning the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix), and would be bound to set hearts racing.
Matt Ford and Jack Steele, The Inspired Unemployed
Best friends and funny man collaborators, Matt Ford and Jack Steele have been blowing up our Insta feeds for the past year or so with their hilarious and absurdist skits – amassing almost a million in followers (including the likes of Hamish Blake and Jaime King). Having either (or both!) of the 26-year-olds as the next bachie could see one of the funniest seasons yet.
Joe Woodbury, professional rugby player
You might remember Joe as the runner-up to Elly Miles’ heart on the most recent season of the Bachelorette. We wouldn’t mind seeing the 25-year-old professional rugby player grace our screens again, for a second round of televised soulmate searching. We’d accept a rose from you, Joe!
Seb Guilhaus, personal trainer
Personal trainer and former resident sweetheart of Married at First Sight, Seb, 31, has recently become single again after splitting with his MAFS owife, Lizzie Sobinoff, just last week. We think Seb would make an excellent bachie with his big heart and love of life!
